Reconsidering Pakistan after the Academy Assault

by Mathias at 6:00 am

Now that Obama has decided to pump 1.5 billion a year into Pakistan without preconditions, I think it might be a good time to examine where this money will be going. You know, aside from “down the crapper.” This is obviously hush money to be given to the Pakistanis to get them out of the way so we can do their job for them. The job we were already doing.

According to a New York Times report last week, the United States was considering expanding its covert war in Pakistan. A Pakistani spokesman said the government hoped Washington would re-think the missile strikes.Reuters

A few days after the Pakistani government beseeched Obama to leave them be Obama announced his new “Afpak” policy. We will be forking cash into Pakistan by the billions for the illustrious right to kill their terrorists. This is like a waiter tipping the diners.

There is no alternative - we must secure the pipelines into Afghanistan that only Pakistan can afford, since Iran can’t be moved despite all the squirming done by this administration. The Taliban has been permeating through the border with Afghanistan, like roaches narrowly avoiding the falling boot. They’ve taken to bombing routes along the main road in Afghanistan to deter the Pakistanis for standing up for what is right.

Furthermore the Pakistani government can’t even be trusted.

The United States has indications that elements of Pakistan’s ISI military intelligence agency provide support to Taliban or al Qaeda militants, senior U.S. military officers said on Friday.Reuters

These billions we’re going to be shoveling into Pakistan could potentially be used to pay the very people we’re trying to stop. The Obama administration’s habit of investing in institutions with dreadful management records is disquieting. We’re burning through budget we don’t have at this time, for no reason. We can destroy the Taliban without injecting capital into Pakistan. Even President Zardari is “totally cool” with his country falling to pieces, because it can only bring more investment from Obama. I guess to prevent his nation from becoming the terrorist hotbed it already is?

Finally there is Swat valley, which has become the greatest disaster in Pakistan, with the Taliban running a fully sanctioned Sharia government.

Pakistani authorities have released 12 Taliban militants in a bid to consolidate a pact struck last month with Islamists in the troubled northwestern Swat valley, a senior government official said Sunday.

They agreed to enforce Islamic sharia law in the region in the hope that Mohammad would be able to rein in the militants.Reuters

Billions upon billions of our money swarming into this country and they must fall back upon appeasement. This is the behavior Obama is reinforcing, sanctioning even, with his new Afpak plan. This is irresponsible and foolish. These people deserve to be liberated and Obama is paying to have them held for ransom.

This is superflous spending. It is a charade of power and we must see through it. It is not charity but blood money being paid so that Obama might do as he wishes in the country, though in reality it will only supply our enemies.

Meanwhile…
