I don’t know how this happened. People? How did we let this happen? This comedian, Al Franken, is inches away from slithering into a Senate seat. The man is literally a concentration of toxic sludge. When he speaks people have commented on a “garbage-y” smell wafting from between his disproportionate lips.
He successfully ran against an outgoing Commander-in-Chief, one George W Bush II (43), who has coincidentally never been a Minnesota Senator or Minnesota President. He also made a terrible movie that induced mass suicide in observing crowds. Those that survived the ordeal developed absurd mental disorders and an undying support for his holiness, the bespectacled clown-child. You would have thought that after people both saw and heard Franken his defeat was imminent. Furthermore, his votes should have been limited due to his, you know, claiming the blessing of God Almighty in the film.
Sadly, the news that every baby Franken kissed grew a tentacle broke too late to change the course of the election. God bless that Coleman fellow for fighting for the rights of every American.
I take offense to your headline. I did not vote for Franken, mainly because he’s not a politician. He’s a comedian. I, however, didn’t vote for Coleman either (I voted 3rd party). Coleman did what Franken is currently doing when he got elected. They both used presidential candidates to ride to victory and behaved as nothing more than a rubber stamp for the administration. Coleman rode the wave of the Iraq war with Bush in 2002 (and was personally chosen by Rove) and voted in lock step with Bush. Franken is doing the same thing with Obama.
As a resident of MN, I want a politician who will look out for my interests, not just agree with the president.
I think it speaks more of Coleman that he lost than it does of Franken. Franken is the example of someone who should not be in politics, yet disapproval of Bush and Coleman was so strong, he was able to squeak by a win. If Coleman couldn’t beat a comedian who had scandal after scandal come up in the course of the election, he doesn’t deserve to be elected.
I just hope that the lawsuits end so MN can finally have their 2nd Senator in this perilous time for our country.
Meant no offense to Minnesotans, just emphasizing what a slimy bum I think Franken is.
Your headline reads “successfully Seduced Every Living Being in Minnesota” I have a living being in MN. He didn’t seduce me. Your headline while maybe (i stress maybe) not intended to insult, did just that. You are only perpetuating the loud, angry, largely internet driven movement of extremes (on both sides of the aisle). See: FreeRepublic on the right and Huffingtonpost on the left.
Civil, respectful, discourse is what we should be having. Making inflammatory statements like your headline may get you attention, but not the right kind. Let’s bring civility and respectful disagreement back to politics.
While I can understand being offended when considering a personal seduction by Franken (it’s gross) I can’t see what I’ve written as insulting. It’s too absurd to be considered a legitimate insult. I merely spoke in hyperbole and satire, expressing my opinion on Franken. Realistically, yes, I could’ve said “Looks like Franken’s going to win out there in Minnesota” but it wouldn’t fit with the article and it wouldn’t express my feelings. It would read like a regular news update, which isn’t what I’m trying to do here.
I’m not naive enough to think you meant it literally.
Your headline implies that all Minnesotans have been duped by Franken into voting for him. First off, only something like 41% of the voters in MN voted for him. Lumping all Minnesotans into that 41% is naive at best, and just plain stupid at worst.
While I don’t like Franken in the least, many people voted for him and insulting their freely chosen political beliefs is an insult to our democracy. I disagree with many people’s votes, but that is their right and the process of democracy is what makes America great. We can disagree while being agreeable (to use a cliche).
If you are trying to run a serious political blog, resorting to hyperbole and satire (as you said in your previous response) shows that this blog should not be taken seriously. A serious political blog could say the same thing you are trying to convey in the above post, without resorting to hyperbole, satire, or referencing an internet posting with the headline: “Al Franken: Known to BBQ Newborn Babies for Brunch and Ass-Rape Dyslexic Second Graders. Is This Man Fit for Office?”
As a said before, hyperbolic inflammatory statements may get people’s attention, but if you want to be taken seriously, thoughtful, intelligent posts are your best route.
Thank you for the advice on how to run a serious political blog. I will enjoy reading yours if you’ll post the URL.
Remember, I love you.
I am from Minnesota real conservatives were pretty upset with Coleman. Some held their noses and voted for him as I did. However with ACORN voter fraud that I actually witnessed and an angry base I am surprised he made it this close. He actually won but Franken will take the seat.
sarcasm is also something to avoid. seems civil discourse is not something you’re capable of.
I do not have to take this from someone who doesn’t even have a Serious Political Blog on the Internet (feat. Civil Discourse with 50 Cent)!
i’m not arrogant enough to think that my every thought on every subject is important enough to have published. I submit letters to editors and opinion articles when I feel the need.
“(feat. Civil Discourse with 50 Cent)!”
–really? wow. i think you just made my point for me. thank you. i appreciate that and God Bless America.

You just got completely tooled by a reader who “does not have a serious political blog on the internet.” do you also know how pompous you sound. douche.
WAIT! So a reader that eventually discovers that this is not a Serious Political Blog on the Internet and tells me I should have one if I want to be taken seriously is “tooling” me? Then when I joke further they claim I’ve proven their point that I am not a Serious Political Blogger on the Internet, which was obvious from the get-go. This makes me a “douche”? To cap off the tirade they dismiss me as arrogant and unimportant not realizing that they have spent a significant portion of their day responding to the very thoughts they claim are frivolous?
I hate to break it to you… But we’re probably on the same side.
Actually I stumbled onto this website by accident. I just googled “biggest douche on the internet” and this was the first link that came up. Spent maybe 4 minutes of my day here. Dont flatter youreself.
First off, we need not worry about insulting Minnesotans. They’re from Minnesota. They know they suck.
He’s absolutely right, though. Political discourse in this country is childish. The punditry and blogosphere share a lot of the blame. Instead of us being led by our best and brightest, we have to settle for whoever has the most money and the snappiest catch phrases.
Also, Mathias, you shouldn’t assume anybody has “spent a significant portion of their day” going over your blog. I myself will have spent no more than 6 minutes here in total by the time I’m through.
No offense intended here, just wanna give you helpful critical notes: I put this blog as a watered down Ace of Spades at best, or a wowomg.com with better design at worst. Al Franken Steals Election. Blogs on the right have been posting different versions of this article since the election.
